Servant Event being planned for the convention is partnering
with Concordia University.
It is called the Northwest Portland BackPack Lunch
Our ladies would be asked to donate $5.00 on the registration
form. The money
collected is sent to the Concordia Office of Servant Learning.
They buy the necessary food and the lunch bags, transport
it to the Embassy Suites, where it
will be packed by our LWML ladies on Friday morning,
June 27, 2014.
These meals are often the only meal that students in
this area of Portland have during the weekend.
The Concordia Students
would then transport the filled lunchbags to the program’s
chairman who would have them distributed to the needy children.

Bible Study Leader - Donna Pyle, Bible Study leader at
the 2013 LWML Convention in Pittsburgh.
Author of numerous Bible studies, a DVD series, Your
Strong Suit, and a small-group Bible Study, The
God of All Comfort, Donna is amazed God called her
to this path. She says, "My three sisters and I
grew up with horses, the whole Texas upbringing."
Donna learned life-long joys: singing, reading, playing
the flute, and even twirling in the high school rifle
corps, but she didn't grow up knowing Jesus." It
was several years later after her Baptism, Donna was
worshipping on Good Friday and "something broke the wall
around my heart," she said. By the power of the
Holy Spirit, she took another look at her faith.
"I began to understand what Christ did on the cross.
It changed everything," she recalled. "That's when
He instilled in me a voracious appetite for His Word.
I had to know Him and to know why He did that for me and
for everyone. I had to know why He would love me."
Donna's desire to take another look, a closer look,
gives birth to her Bible studies. (info from Lutheran
Woman's Quarterly, spring 2013)
